7 Obstacles to Indian Students’ Success

Hurdles in Success of Indian Students

Obstacles hamper students’ progress. In India, hurdles impede students’ advancement in all areas. Every child desires to be a success. But unfavourable circumstances destroy their futures. That is why their path to success is obstructed. They face several hinderances in their path to life success as the Indian system has many barriers that prevent them from progressing in life. This implies that the amount of impediments is inversely connected to the likelihood of success. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, at least one student commits suicide every hour. According to the WHO, one in every four Indian teenagers is depressed. The Indian Education System’s Complexity is one of the seven hurdles to success. Harms Progress, success in parents’ minds, and teachers’ ideas of student accomplishment are the thinking behind student suicide and depression in India, and they are the main cause of student suicide and depression.

1. Parental Pressure to Shine in Life

Parents are putting more pressure on their children and students. This type of stress is detrimental to one’s success in life. Students are burdened by Math, Science, English, and tuition. Many parents, unaware of their children’s aspirations, abilities, creativity, and invention, expect their children to get into IITs and IIMs, pass UPSC, and become CAs so they can join their firms. The kids are stressed and anxious as a result of this attitude. They are unable to cope with parental pressure, failure in competitive examinations, and acceptance into prestigious colleges. These deficiencies, as well as a lack of psychological counselling, contribute to student suicide. Such parental expectations exacerbate student stress.

2. Academic Goal to Outperform Others

Students are under great academic strain. There is always pressure in schools to do well so they can get into prestigious colleges. Once admitted, the job issue causes worry and anxiety among students. This prevents them from excelling in life. Teachers and parents must recognise that each child has a unique coping technique. Understanding their strengths and shortcomings might help reduce stress. Read my earlier article for additional information on student and child stress.

3. Social pressure hinders life’s success.

Social pressure also plays a part in life success. The prospects of students from élite and middle-class homes excelling in life are not always accurate. Even children from wealthy families fail in life for many reasons. Caste-based prejudice also affects life success. Discrimination exists in higher education as well. We know this to be true and should constantly help the poor and needy students succeed. Various government agencies also assist such students financially. Inevitable factors cause social pressure among pupils. Let society assist such students in life.

4. Fear of failure diminishes the chances of success.

Our culture does not view failure as a chance to learn and grow. We equate a child’s failure with incapacity to perform and start suggesting the child is helpless. An unjustified hint that a minor failure is a life failure. Our kids aren’t taught how to deal with failures and setbacks. Life is a marathon, and we all know that “slow and steady wins the race,” yet we don’t follow it. Decreased tolerance for criticism and inability to tolerate emotional upheaval. Today’s generation is addicted to instant satisfaction, oblivious to the complexities of life. Academic success is only a minor aspect of life. Being a decent partner, father, and citizen is essential. We should learn to be excellent Earth stewards.

5. The Indian Education System’s Complexity Harms Progress

Schools are created to help teachers, not students: Curriculum and classroom layouts enable teachers teach the same thing to all students. This hinders children’s progress since they have varied strengths, interests, learning styles, and rates of learning. This way, the kids lose interest in school and the learning process is hampered. It suggests our school education system is impeding children’s advancement and preventing them from excelling in life. Colleges and institutions are no exception.

6. Success in Parents’ Minds!

Some parents have unrealistic expectations for the future of their children. They try to make their kids do what they do. I’ve found out that many parents push their kids into science in 11th grade without thinking about the benefits and downsides first. This is because they don’t ask their kids about what they want to do when they grow up. We found out later that these kids don’t do well in their jobs or in life. Find out what your child is good at and what he or she enjoys. Steve Stay, a former Awsaj Academy counsellor, says that “whatever it takes” to make them more effective and productive people is what he wants to do.

“Parental involvement is essential for students to reach their greatest potential. Positive parental involvement has been proved to raise student achievement, reduce poor conduct, improve attendance, and increase student satisfaction. Student without parental involvement earn lower marks, get into more problems, and are less happy at school,” he says.

7. Teachers’ perceptions of student success

Teachers have some preconceived notions and beliefs about how well students perform. People do not believe that education and jobs are changing, so we attempt to persuade them. Do we know what it means to be a good person? Do we keep up with the changes in the world? Are we prepared to base democracy on the fact that we all came from the same place? There are numerous changes occurring in the field of education. Yes. Do we continue to treat our students in the same manner? First, let us learn about new things in order to better ourselves. If this is the case, do we teach them how to be creative and think outside the box? Do we appreciate new technology and ideas? These are our ideas and concerns. This is my opinion. Let us be optimistic and assist our students in succeeding.

As a result, we believe that pressure from parents and teachers, pressure from society, fear of failure, and the complexity of the Indian education system all make it more difficult for people to succeed in life. Harms The main causes of student and child suicide and depression in India are growth, success in the eyes of parents, and teachers’ opinions of how well students did. They also serve as significant impediments to students’ progress. Millions of Indian girls must work hard in order to obtain an education. Financial constraints, unsupportive communities, restrictive gender norms, and even demotivating classrooms are all obstacles for girls. Some very talented women are defying the odds and pursuing their dreams, which not only improves their own lives but also inspires others in similar circumstances.
