Indian Navy Day 2022 and its History: Govt. Sr. Sec. School Dadri Toye Celebrates Indian Navy Day 2022

The Indian Navy commemorates every year its Navy Day on December 4 in memory of Operation Trident against Pakistan during the Indo-Pak War under the leadership of “Commodore Babru Bhan YadavMVC (14 September 1928 – 22 January 2010), also known as B.B. Yadav, a former Indian Navy Officer. He led the 25th Missile Boat Squadron during Operation Trident in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. [2] The Indian Navy organised the night strike on December 4–5, 1971. We celebrate “Indian Navy Day” to acknowledge and appreciate the Indian Navy’s achievements and involvement in the country. Our Indian Navy protects us from enemies on or beneath the water.

The Chief of the Naval Staff directs Indian Navy operations and administrative management from the integrated headquarters of the Ministry of Defense. The Indian Navy is the maritime arm of the Indian Armed Forces, with the President of India serving as its commander in chief. The “Father of the Indian Navy,” Maratha monarch Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosle, founded the country’s naval force.

Operation Trident (1971): The Beginning of the Indian Navy, Day 2022

Operation Trident was an offensive operation launched by the Indian Navy on Pakistan’s port city of Karachi during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Operation Trident marked the first employment of anti-ship missiles in battle in the region. Heavy damage was caused on Pakistani warships and infrastructure during the operation, which took place on the night of December 4th and 5th. There were no casualties on the Indian side, but Pakistan lost a minesweeper, a destroyer, a cargo vessel with ammunition, and fuel storage tanks in Karachi. Yet another destroyer was severely damaged and subsequently scrapped. Every year on December 4, India commemorates Navy Day in honour of this mission. Python followed Trident three days afterward.

Babru Bhan had an immense love for the defence services, so he didn’t join IPS. Instead, he preferred to join the Indian Navy on January 1, 1951. He received his training in the United Kingdom and Russia.

During the 1971 war, he was the first Indian Naval officer to receive the Mahavir Chakra for valor. He received the Maha Vir Chakra for his exceptional leadership and military skills that led to the destruction of Pakistan’s most powerful naval regiment in 1971. The Karachi Strike Group formed for Operation Trident under the brave leadership of Babru Bhan Yadav. This strike group is also known as the “Killer Squadron,” which helped the Indian Navy gain supremacy in the 1971 War. Hence, in memory of the operations, the Indian Navy celebrates Navy Day on December 4 every year.
