The History of Teachers’ Day in India
When Dr. Radhakrishan took office as India’s second President in 1962, his students approached him and asked for permission to celebrate September 5 as a special day. Dr. Radhakrishnan instead requested that September 5 be designated as Teachers’ Day to recognise teachers’ contributions to society.
He was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of both Banaras Hindu University and Andhra University (BHU). He was also chosen as a fellow of the British Academy in 1939. In 1926, 1929, and 1930, he also worked as a lecturer at Manchester College in Oxford. He was named the University of Chicago’s Haskell Lecturer in Comparative Religion in 1930.
The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore and The Reign of Religion in Contemporary Philosophy are two of the Philosopher President’s best-known writings. Dr. Radhakrisnan received the British Order of Merit in 1963 and has been nominated 11 times for the Nobel Peace Prize.

World Teachers’ Day October 5
World Teachers’ Day isis held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers. Report on Teachers’ Day 2022

Being a Head Girl, I got the opportunity to cover the celebration of Teachers’ Day at GSSS Dadri Toye(Jhajjar). I reached the school at 8 a.m. and I was greeted by the female students with flowers, and the school gate was beautifully decorated to welcome all. I saw teachers in colourful dresses to mark Teachers’ Day 2022. The function started at 9 a.m. with the National Anthem. The Principal, Dr. Rajinder, State Awarded, and Mahinder Singh Yadav lighted the candle in front of the Saraswati Picture. Sombir and Mrs. Ritu, who recently got the State Teacher Award, were received by the staff members and students.
The Chief Guest, Sh. Madan Chopra, D.E.O. Jhajjar, was accompanied by Sh. Subhash Bhardwaj, D.E.E.O., Jhajjar, was welcomed by a song by the students of class 10. Priya, a student of class 12, delivered a speech on Teachers’ Day 2022 in English. Our English teacher, Mr. Mahinder Singh Yadav, addressed the students on the relationship between a student and a teacher. After that, a student from class 9 gave a speech on Teachers’ Day in Hindi. A boy in class 6 recited a poem on teachers’ day. The student’s primary wing performed a dance program.
Finally, the Principal and Chief Guest greeted the incoming teachers, addressed the staff and kids, and shared their thoughts on Teachers’ Day 2022. The N.S.S. students, led by Sh. Ashish Kadian handed sweets to the instructors and pupils, and the Teachers’ Day 2022 event concluded.

Parents are a child’s first teachers, teaching them life lessons; the Guru, or teacher, comes after them, leading the child forward in life. Our teachers played an important role in our impressionable years; they were role models, inspirations, and parental figures outside of our homes who taught us many life lessons. They may have been tough on us at times, but in retrospect, it was only to mould and shape our talents, to force us to face our fears and work on our weaknesses.
When Dr. Radhakrishan took office as India’s second President in 1962, his students approached him and asked for permission to celebrate September 5 as a special day. Dr. Radhakrishnan instead requested that September 5 be designated as Teachers’ Day to recognise teachers’ contributions to society.
He was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of both Banaras Hindu University and Andhra University (BHU). He was also chosen as a fellow of the British Academy in 1939. In 1926, 1929, and 1930, he also worked as a lecturer at Manchester College in Oxford. He was named the University of Chicago’s Haskell Lecturer in Comparative Religion in 1930.
The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore and The Reign of Religion in Contemporary Philosophy are two of the Philosopher President’s best-known writings. Dr. Radhakrisnan received the British Order of Merit in 1963 and has been nominated 11 times for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
