It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 on the First Day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, resulting from discussions on the integration of human interactions and the environment. In 1974, the First Eco Day was held with the theme “Only One Earth”.

Environmental Problems in Rural Areas and
Rural people are unaware of environmental issues. They continue to cook with wood and cow dung. It could be due to their poverty and lack of knowledge about the effects on their health.
They do, however, have some environmental problems because they are ignorant, can’t read or write, are poor, and have superstitions.
There are still some environmental problems in rural India due to lack of infrastructure, sanitation, use of pesticides in farming, lack of drainage facilities, salination, desertification, and degradation of land.
How can we spread the message of World Environment Day in Rural Areas?
However, they are also facing some environmental problems due to their ignorance, illiteracy, poverty, and superstitions. Teachers and students should take the initiative to tell people about the importance of the environment for our future generations.
The teachers of G.S.S.S., DADRI TOYE, and JHAJJAR are helping the villagers in spreading the message of environmental protection under the guidance of Mr. Anil Dhull, NSS, District Co-ordinator; Mr. Narender Kumar, Programme Officer; and Smt. Asha Rani, Programme Officer, Ashish Kumar. Teams from all other schools are also conducting environmental awareness programs in various villages. They should work harder to make our villages a better place to live.
