I had the privilege of covering the Makar Sankranti 2023 celebration at Saheed Jagbir Singh Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Silana (Jhajjar). The programme commenced with the national anthem, setting a patriotic tone for the event. Students showcased their talents in various cultural activities, including traditional Haryanvi folk dances.
A class 12 student delivered a speech in English, highlighting the significance of Makar Sankranti, while another girl from class 11 delivered a speech in Hindi. The painting competition that followed was met with enthusiastic participation, and a class 8 student emerged as the winner.
Principal Mahinder Singh Yadav addressed the students, emphasising the importance of festivals and their role in fostering a sense of unity and joy. The chief guest, Sh. Subhash Bhardwaj, DEEO, also shared inspiring words and distributed prizes to the deserving participants.
