After the results of class 12, every student must decide on a target course and a college. Therefore, it is natural that a lot of questions come to your mind before deciding on a course and college.

 Are you pondering the question of admission? Are you satisfied with the stream you had at the school level? Are you serious about your career? If you are not serious, then do what your friends do. If you’re serious, get out your notebook and start writing down the F.A.Q. before choosing a target course at the college of your choice.

I know many students and parents who are repenting about what they did at the time of the admission of their wards. Going to college or university is a big deal that should be talked about in detail to avoid embarrassment in the future. These questions were never asked by anyone when we took admission to the college, but now I am asking you 30 frequently asked questions before deciding on a target course and college.  I will broadly explain your admission hacks in three broad categories to answer your questions for deciding your target college and course:

 Answer the following questions step-by-step and note the answer to decide to choose the right course at the right time:

A. Why are You Targetting the Course? 9 Important Questions to Answer

1. What are your hidden talents and interests? Will they fulfill your purpose?

All students are not equal and everyone has his interests and talents. But you never try to work out your talents, you just follow what others are doing or as per your parent’s wish. Learn to know your talents, interests, pros, and cons. Check the activities which you liked most in your life Check the subjects which are near to your heart.

2. Was the stream in class 12 of your choice?

If yes, then go ahead with your old subjects. If not, then look at different options as per your choice. There are three streams at the senior secondary level. You may have completed your high school diploma in Science, Commerce, or Humanities. Now, check again that you have chosen the right subjects before being admitted to college. If you are not satisfied with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, you are free to change your major.

3. If so, what were your subjects?

You can proceed with your subjects. You can choose technical courses like Engineering or Health Sciences or Accounts and Management for commerce students, or economics, Psychology, and Sociology for the Humanities group.

4. What is your objective in studying the above subjects?

Do you want to study engineering? How is your math and what about your awareness of the future? Do you know what type of work you are going to do in your field? Get full knowledge of the field. Are you a student of commerce? What do you want to do? Do you want to do honors in commerce or want economics honors? The last, but not the least, is the humanities group. sociology, psychology, or political science. Choose your interests and do your best; only then will you succeed in life.

5. What are your career goals?

Take your time to set your goals. Sometimes you the wrong career and want to change in between and this affects your progress. So, decide your targeted goals before and then proceed. You might want to become a doctor, engineer, charted accountant, and economist. Check the pros and cons of your choice.

6. Is your chosen career in demand?

Do your complete research about your field and its future viability. Finances you need to do the course and the value for money. Yes, It is in demand and will always remain a hot subject in the future. Then, go for it otherwise you change your option.

7. What are your hobbies?

Make a list of your hobbies and never leave them. Keep going with your hobbies.

8. Are you comfortable with your communication skills to achieve your destination?

Check your communication skills. If they are not up to the point, then improve them.

9. Do you have any interest in sports?

Are you fond of sports? Choose the college where you have sports facilities.

1. Do you fulfill the admission requirements?

Now, I think you are clear about your career and interest. To fulfill your goal, you need a good college or university that suits you but are you suitable for the university? Do your qualifications and grades are suitable for the course and university.

2. Do you fulfill the financial requirements of your dream course?

Right, you have selected your course and college. Are your finances allow you to go ahead or you will have to check your financial option to pay your fees.

3. Is your college and courses approved for a bank loan?

Don’t worry about your finances as these days most banks are ready to finance your courses if they are on their approved list on minimum interest. Therefore, go ahead without compromising your course and college.

4. Does your college or university have the courses you want?

Check the courses in the college. Are they suitable for you? Are the Professors available for your course? Check the optional subjects you want to continue.

5. Have you visited the college?

You might have selected some colleges, and now it is advisable to visit the college to check the infrastructure of the college.

6. Have you checked the faculties of your stream?

Gather information about the faculties of your subjects and meet with some teachers who can advise you on your goals.

7. Have you checked the previous academic record of the college?

Check the previous record of the college in academics, student satisfaction, and placements.

8. Does your college provide a skill development short course? 

Check your communication skills. If they are not up to the point, then improve them.

9. Does your college provide infrastructure to fulfill your hobbies?

Make a list of your hobbies and never leave them. Keep going with your hobbies.

C. What is the Future of Your Course and College? Answer These 10 Questions.

1. Which college or university do you want to attend?

There are so many factors that need to be considered, like the cost of tuition fees, the cost of living, and the medium of instruction. Are you ready to live without your family? What is the grade of the institute? Is there college placement? For example, SRCC, St. Stephen, and Saheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies are the brand names of Delhi University. They are like moats in the field. The colleges have the course of your choice. Therefore, go ahead.

2. Does your college help in providing a part-time job to manage your finances?

Some students need to work part-time jobs to manage their finances or to get industry exposure. If you are one of them, then choose a college where part-time jobs are available.

3. Do you want to learn extra skills after college hours?

Learning extra skills while you are studying at college is always an asset. Therefore, always be ready to explore to learn new things during your college time.

4. Do you want to do internships during the course?

Internships are essential to get some pre-experience while studying in college. Most companies ask for internships and research papers before appointing a person.

5. Do you want to live in a hostel or off-campus?

If the institute has a hostel, it is always better as you will get food and more exposure with your college friends.

6. Are you comfortable with cooking?

If you don’t get a hostel, then always be ready to cook. Therefore, learn to cook from your mom so that you won’t face any problems in your room.

7. Do you have any interest in sports?

Are you fond of sports? Choose the college where you have sports facilities.

8. Do you want to learn a foreign language?

Learning a foreign language is always beneficial as it will put more weight on your C.V. and allow you to learn about different cultures.

9. Does your college have a placement cell?

Check the availability of placement cells in your college to help the students with their placement.

10. Is there a student union at your college?

The Students Union is always helpful for students to put their requirements in front of the administration in a better and more convincing manner.

The final question: Are you sure that the course is of your choice?

Check once more that your course and college are meaningful to you.

My Tip: Do you want to go abroad for further studies?

Check your finances, courses, country, the language of instruction, and your IELTS score to get there. You can choose Germany for free education and the best courses because German public universities are free for exceptional students with 13 years of schooling and an academic score of more than 90% in class 12 and above 80% in graduation.
